Kirkcudbright Scottish Nights & Floodlit Tattoo
Kirkcudbright is a lovely harbour town less than 15 minutes from our self catering properties, which is well known for its history and art. The town has a series of Scottish Nights that take place throughout July and August on a Thursday evening in the Harbour Square in the town centre. The evenings start at 7pm with a guest performer each week. Whilst the performers are on stage, the kids get to grab a giant flag and wave them through the square, a well loved tradition with local and visiting kids alike. The Kirkcudbright Pipe Band, along with other pipe bands, entertain the crowds and there are also Scottish dancing performances from both adults and children. The Kirkcudbright Tug o’ War team, which remains unbeaten for over 50 years, is the star of the show – and well worth seeing!
If you can’t make the Scottish Night, the Kirkcudbright Floodlit Tattoo & Fireworks Display the ultimate Scottish Night. It takes place on the 24th August this year and is located on the street, with MacLellan's Castle as a stunning backdrop.
The event runs from 7pm until 10.30pm and as well as the pipe bands and dancers mentioned above, there is a range of entertainment incorporating both the best of Scotland and some great entertainers from further afield. The organisers state that it has everything that the Edinburgh tattoo does, for a fraction of the price. Tickets are £7 and are available online here.
